The different techniques

Traditionally, two techniques are used by plastic surgeons. On the one hand, the lipo-aspiration. This technique consists in sucking the fat out of the arm, leaving very good results despite scars of a few millimeters.

On the other hand, if the skin is of worst quality, the surgeon is forced to perform a cutaneous resection. In this case, the scars will be located either in the axilla, or along the inner side of the arm, or transdermally to retract the skin.

Brachioplasty without scar

In recent years, a new technique has been developed by Dr. Abboud. This plastic surgeon now performs the arm lifting by combining lipo-aspiration with the use of an internal thread. This leads to excellent results, without leaving any scar in case of mild to moderate skin excess.

The technique invented by Dr. Abboud and based on liposuction, was published in the Surgery Aesthetic Journal in 2015.

After the operation

Brachioplasty is performed under general anesthesia. The duration of the intervention is more or less 1 hour. When you wake up, you will have a compressive bandage and will feel discomfort in the arms. Thus, you won’t feel extreme pain due to the arm lift.

The compression bandage will be replaced later by compression cuffs that will have been ordered by the bandagist before the intervention.
